Annual Christmas Party and Awards Banquet
Acanthus Masonic Lodge, 4133 Urbandale Ave, Des Moines

Our Annual Christmas Party and Awards Banquet is scheduled for Saturday, December 6th. Please mark the date on your calendars, and plan on being a part of this annual tradition.  It will be held at the Acanthus Masonic Lodge, 4133 Urbandale Ave, Des Moines.  We will open the doors at 6:30 PM, dinner will start at 7:00 PM, and awards presentations will begin by 8:00 PM. 

We are asking each family to bring a main dish and a dessert or side dish to share.  Also, please bring your own table service, and drinks.  We will have some time of fellowship and eating, and then we will present awards for the year.  Each of our individual clubs will present awards to one of their local students in each of the following areas:  Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control, Indomitable Spirit, Leadership, and a Student of the Year.

Referee Seminar

Non-certification referee seminar. Open to 2nd and 1st gup, as well as all black belts, coaches and players. Cost is $25 per person, payable at the door. Class will run from 6 pm - 10 pm. Basics of refereeing, rules, hand signals, scoring, adjudication. Taught by International Referee Master Mike Wickham.

The 19th Two Rivers Invitational Taekwondo Tournament

The Midwest's premiere colored-belts-only "beginners' tournament". Double elimination in both forms and sparring. For full rules, please see information/registration packet attached at the bottom of this page. To register, follow the link to the Online Registration. Excellent learning opportunity for players, referees, coaches, spectators.

Tournament Features:

  1. Color Belt Competition ONLY, for your BEGINNING competitors
  2. Introduction and Explanation of the components of a tournament to players, coaches and spectators
  3. Sparring participants will have the opportunity to spar in at least 2 matches
  4. Participation Medals are awarded to all, to keep the focus on learning, not “winning”
  5. Outstanding Competitor Awards for one member from each club represented
  6. Red and Brown Belts are given the opportunity to officiate and be mentored by International Referees
  7. Forms competition is bracketed, just like sparring, and will be “head-to-head”, using new WTF standards for performance

 Participant Requirements and Entry Fee:

  • No more than FOUR (4) previous tournaments
  • Entry fee for one or both events is $45 (pre-register). Pre-registration postmark deadline is Saturday, 1/24/15.
        Entries postmarked after 1/24/15, or received at the door on the day of the tournament are double ($90)
